I'm so glad you're here. I'm Danielle, a fine art wedding & lifestyle photographer with a focus on capturing magical moments.
Some love stories are so effortlessly beautiful that they deserve to be celebrated not once but twice—and that’s precisely what Jihee and Adam did. After their intimate elopement in Los Angeles, without any photos to document the day, they decided to hit refresh in one of the most breathtaking cities in the world: San Francisco. And let me tell you, their Bay Area elopement was nothing short of magical. Some may say it’s not ideal to elope in winter, but I beg to differ! There are many magical elopement locations all across the U.S. Keep reading to discover my favorites, from snow-capped mountains to Mardi Gras magic.
I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and while I now call Chicago home, every time I visit California, my photographer’s heart lights up. The golden light, the coastal breeze, the architecture—it’s all too good. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to shoot Jihee and Adam’s elopement session when they reached out. They told me they wanted to dress up again and have their love captured in some iconic San Francisco spots, and I was 100% on board. Spoiler alert: this session turned out to be a dream.
One of the best parts of winter in California? The weather can feel like spring (yes, I miss those 65-degree December days!). On this picture-perfect winter afternoon, we met at the Palace of Fine Arts—and wow, what a location. Somehow, this was my first time shooting there, but as soon as I saw the towering columns, dreamy archways, and tranquil lagoon, I knew it would be an unforgettable backdrop. Jihee and Adam showed up looking like they had stepped straight out of a fashion editorial—classic, elegant, and so effortlessly in love.
From there, we headed to Crissy Field, where the iconic Golden Gate Bridge loomed in the background. This spot has it all: waterfront views, sandy beaches, and wide-open skies. Jihee made a quick outfit change into her “reception” dress, and we had so much fun running around the beach together. These two were up for anything, including stepping into the chilly water for stunning, windswept shots. Adventurous couples like Jihee and Adam are my favorite because their joy is contagious and so easy to capture.
Their two adorable pups joined us for some family photos to wrap up the day. (Because an elopement is oh so sweet with four-legged friends!) Watching Jihee and Adam snuggle their fur babies with the golden California sun setting behind them was the perfect ending to this special day.
Jihee and Adam’s San Francisco session was a great time and a reminder of how amazing winter elopements can be. There’s something extra romantic about tying the knot during those “off-season” months when the world feels a little quieter and cozier. Plus, certain destinations really shine during the winter, offering unique vibes you just can’t get at any other time of year.
Feeling inspired? If you’re dreaming of your own winter elopement, here are some other stunning locations across the U.S. to consider:
