I'm so glad you're here. I'm Danielle, a fine art wedding & lifestyle photographer with a focus on capturing magical moments.
Emilio and Christian’s engagement session at the Chicago Field Museum was pure magic. First off—how stylish and stunning do these two look? Their stylish, fashion-forward suits had me hyped from the moment they arrived. And their connection? Heart-melting.
We kicked things off on a sunny fall afternoon at the Lyric Opera House in downtown Chicago. Its elegant gold-and-white design made for a perfect backdrop (and it’s always a solid rain backup—chic and covered!). Plus, there was a perfect theater poster outside the doors for some unique shots—the caption read, “Make memories that will last a lifetime.” And that’s exactly what they did.
After capturing priceless moments at the opera house, we headed to the Chicago Field Museum. This spot is a personal favorite. It offers elegant architecture, European vibes, and nature all in one place, making it a dream location for stunning photos.
The session wrapped up with laughter, love, and endless lens-loving chemistry. Take a look at their photos and prepare for a serious mood boost!
If you’re lucky enough to call Chicago home (or if you’re visiting this beautiful city for a destination engagement shoot), you already know that Chicago has a wealth of iconic landmarks and stunning backdrops. From towering skyscrapers to serene gardens, every corner of the Windy City feels like a stage set for romance.
Let’s look at how you can creatively incorporate Chicago’s most famous landmarks into your engagement photos with creative tips and ideas inspired by Emilio and Christian’s stunning shoot at the Lyric Opera House, The Field Museum, and the surrounding gardens.
If you love timeless elegance, the Lyric Opera House is a jaw-dropping location to kick off your engagement shoot. Its grand architecture, intricate detailing, and Old World charm create a sophisticated backdrop for unforgettable photos.
How to Make It Yours:
Creative Idea: Bring a single rose or bouquet as a prop and channel your inner “Phantom of the Opera” vibes. It’s subtle yet romantic and ties perfectly into the opera house theme.
The Field Museum isn’t just for natural history buffs—it’s also a stunning engagement photo location. Its regal, neoclassical façade offers extra grandeur, while the surrounding gardens provide a lush, natural contrast.
How to Make It Yours:
Creative Idea: Add a nod to history by incorporating something meaningful to your story, like books or maps (a nod to exploration and learning) as props in your shoot.
No Chicago engagement shoot list would be complete without mentioning “The Bean.” Cloud Gate’s reflective surface offers endless opportunities for creative photo ideas. Plus, it’s smack-dab in the middle of Millennium Park, which provides a mix of urban and garden settings.
How to Make It Yours:
Creative Idea: Share a kiss directly under your reflection in The Bean, creating a layered, almost dreamlike image of your love story.
For couples who love the thrill of cityscapes, Willis Tower offers breathtaking views of Chicago from above. The Skydeck’s glass ledge is an unbeatable location for bold, adventurous engagement photos.
How to Make It Yours:
Creative Idea: Use the glass floor of the Skydeck to your advantage by lying down or creatively interacting with the unique setting—it’s guaranteed to give you one-of-a-kind engagement photos.
Baseball fans, rejoice! Wrigley Field isn’t just for game day—it’s an ideal spot to celebrate your shared love for the Cubs (or just Chicago’s sports culture).
How to Make it Yours:
Creative Idea: Channel your inner sports announcer with a fun, role-play-inspired shot. Pretend you’re calling the game, or let your partner lift you like you’re celebrating the ultimate home run. This kind of playfulness makes for unique photos and showcases your personalities, if that’s your thing.
Finally, if you envision waterfront vibes, Navy Pier offers a beautiful mix of Lake Michigan views, carnival-like charm, and urban elegance. Whether you’re into the classic Ferris wheel or just love the peaceful water views, Navy Pier is a fantastic place to snap some gorgeous engagement photos.
How to Make it Yours:
Creative Idea: Share cotton candy or ice cream while walking hand-in-hand along the pier for a candid, storybook-like feel.
