I'm so glad you're here. I'm Danielle, a fine art wedding & lifestyle photographer with a focus on capturing magical moments.
A rainy day Chicago Blackstone Hotel wedding sounds enchanting and romantic, right? With a touch of Jewish traditions, elegant details, and an adorable couple, Sarah & Sean’s celebration was just that and more! This was definitely a wedding day to remember.
I first met Sarah & Sean at their engagement session the year before their wedding. We spent a perfect sunny Sunday afternoon walking around a trail near the river in the South Loop area of Chicago, and then did an outfit change and headed to the Field Museum – which is always a favorite of mine. It was a cute, fun & elegant shoot, and was a perfect precursor for their wedding day which had the same vibes!
Zoom through the next few months to April, and we met at The Blackstone Hotel in downtown Chicago on a rainy day for their wedding! I absolutely love shooting at The Blackstone- the lighting is amazing, and the decor is vintage & elegant & beautiful for detail and prep shots. This was also made easier by Sarah’s insanely stunning details! The invites, the florals, the shoes, the PEARL VEIL- like, come on. Perfect for classic detail shots. Once everyone was ready, we did their first look just outside in Grant Park. Luckily the rain subsided long enough for us to get all of our couple & wedding party photos in before it started up again. A perk of a venue like The Blackstone is the easy access to incredible photo locations only a few minutes walk away. I love this part of the park (kind of European vibes, right?) and of course shooting on Michigan Ave is always iconic.
Next up- Ketubah & ceremony time! As the ceremony begins, the rabbi leads the couple through the Jewish wedding traditions. The ketubah, a beautifully designed Jewish marriage contract, is signed and witnessed by close family and friends. They then went through a full ceremony (breaking of the glass and all!) and once the ceremony was complete, the guests gathered in the hotel’s grand reception hall for cocktails and a joyous celebration. As the evening unfolds, the guests dance, laugh, and celebrate the union of two souls.
We ended this lovely evening with two of my favorite things- a dress change (um hello sparkles!!!!) and a nighttime shoot with a champagne pop. I don’t think there is a more perfect way to end the night. Sarah & Seans’s Chicago Blackstone Hotel wedding was overall incredible, and one I won’t soon forget (or stop ever sharing photos from 😉 ).
