I'm so glad you're here. I'm Danielle, a fine art wedding & lifestyle photographer with a focus on capturing magical moments.
What do penguin cake toppers, rainbow-filtered portraits, and cat-face cocktail menus have in common? They’re all personal details that brought this dazzling wedding to life. From the moment I photographed Bianca and Preston’s garden engagement session around the Griffin Museum of Science, I knew their Bridgeport Art Center Sculpture Garden wedding would be filled with warmth, personality, and plenty of laughter. Their engagement photos felt breezy and natural and never too serious—a balance that carried beautifully into their wedding day.
Bianca and Preston chose the Sculpture Garden at Bridgeport Art Center for a colorful Chicago celebration that was equal parts playful and polished. Every detail revealed something about their relationship, from the penguin cake toppers and handwritten stationery to a cocktail menu featuring cat faces. Nothing was added just to “fill a space.” Each choice shaped the experience and helped paint a picture of their story.
A Bridgeport Art Center Sculpture Garden wedding offers a subtle Chicago experience without relying on the city’s most familiar views. The venue gives so much charm and character to your day. Historic architecture, exposed brick, dramatic arches, greenery, manicured topiaries, and contemporary artwork come together in one setting. The venue feels a bit industrial, artistic, and inviting all at once. It serves as a gorgeous canvas for everything from colorful weddings like this one to ultra minimalist styles.
From a photography perspective, I loved how many visual directions the space gave us. The garden softened the building’s architectural lines, while the brickwork and sculptural elements added texture and depth. We could move from romantic outdoor portraits to modern editorial compositions without leaving the property.
The setting also supported the flow of the day. Guests could enjoy a covered, filtered-light ceremony surrounded by greenery and art, then continue celebrating in a space that still felt connected to the garden. Bianca and Preston created a cohesive experience rather than treating the ceremony and reception as two separate events.
Bianca and Preston wanted their wedding to feel colorful, and their pastel pink, vibrant coral, green, and lavender palette brought so much energy to the venue. Flowers for Dreams layered those shades throughout the floral design, complementing the green garden without competing with its natural character.
We carried the color story into their portraits by shooting through pieces of rainbow cellophane. The technique added washes of pink, violet, and green across a few frames, creating photographs that felt dreamy, playful, and slightly unexpected. An artistic effect like this works best when it supports the existing atmosphere, and Bianca and Preston’s palette gave us the perfect opportunity to experiment. (And in my humble opinion, using a manual, flexible filter outshines digital preset filters every time.)
Their wedding also proved that a colorful design can still feel polished. Thoughtful repetition kept the palette cohesive, while cute handwritten calligraphy and personal illustrations made the celebration feel intimate. Their stationery brought a handmade quality to the tables, and the cat-face cocktail menu may have been one of my favorite details.
Bianca and Preston are both actors with ties to Chicago’s Second City, so no one should be surprised that their wedding party brought impeccable comedic timing.
Preston currently performs with The Second City, while Bianca graduated from the Severn Darden Graduate Program. Many members of their group also came from creative or performance backgrounds, which meant every portrait overflowed with charisma. They committed to photo prompts, made each other laugh constantly, and never needed much encouragement to get a little goofy.
A fun-loving wedding party changes the energy not just of the wedding day, but of the photography experience, too. Formal portraits move quickly because everyone stays engaged, and candid moments unfold between every planned photograph. Bianca and Preston’s friends knew how to play to the camera without making anything feel forced.
Their humor never overshadowed the emotional weight of the day, either. Joy and sincerity existed side by side. One moment brought full-body laughter; the next brought happy tears, quiet hugs, or a meaningful glance between family members.
Some of the most memorable wedding details are not necessarily the largest or most expensive but rather the pieces guests recognize immediately as belonging to the couple.
Bianca and Preston selected a vendor team capable of creatively crafting their vision. Lutz Bakery added a whimsical touch to their cake, and Art of Imagination helped shape the visual atmosphere. All the while, Caitlin McDonald’s planning kept the moving pieces organized. True Cuisine handled the curated cocktail bites and delicious meal, while Toast & Jam brought the reception energy. And finally, Shutter & Sound documented the day alongside me on video. Each vendor contributed to a celebration that felt expressive and seamless.
The best wedding designs create room for the people inside them. Bianca and Preston’s details set the tone, but their relationships brought everything to life.
For all the color, comedy, and creative details, the heart of this wedding remained incredibly genuine. Bianca and Preston filled the day with their special kind of love, and their guests responded with the same openness. Laughter came easily, but so did emotion.
Their Bridgeport Art Center Sculpture Garden wedding felt like the natural next chapter after their garden engagement session: artistic, relaxed, joyful, and grounded in who they are as a couple. Bianca and Preston gave themselves permission to create a day that looked beautiful while still feeling like their real life, and that’s an extraordinary thing. Cheers to the happy couple! I wish you a million more laughs and adventures together.
