I'm so glad you're here. I'm Danielle, a fine art wedding & lifestyle photographer with a focus on capturing magical moments.
Oh man. You all ready to hear about one of the most amazing weeks ever?? Last November I joined Kelly Berry’s Vero Workshop in the stunning Charleston, and had the time of my life! This was my first workshop ever, and I was so nervous! Plus it didn’t help that November in Charleston is still super hot and humid, so my suitcase full of sweaters and jeans made me a sweaty and frizzy hair mess walking in on the first day, but once I settled down and met all the girls, it was a perfect/exhausting/beautiful journey from there. We spent two full days getting up before the sun (which if you know me, was not an easy thing for me to do haha) and going on multiple incredible shoots, and learning so much from our incredible teachers Kelly Berry, Laura Gordon & Sara Russell, and the amazing vendors who participated and hung out with us the whole time too. Besides all of the fun surprises and getting to connect with other photographers from around the country, the thing that made this experience so wonderful was that it created a huge turning point in my work: before I attended the workshop, I was feeling pretty lost and uninspired with my work. I couldn’t seem to get my images to look the way I wanted, and I was struggling to find my own style. But after many heart to hearts with these incredible ladies and learning new techniques, I was finally able to figure out the path I wanted to go down, and it has changed everything! I am forever grateful that I attended Vero, for this reason, and also since it allowed me to meet a lemur 😉
Okay, enough sappy stuff! So I broke each day up by each shoot we did, so four blogs total coming your way! This was day one shoot one, where we worked with the lovely Lexi, and XENA THE LEMUR!!! When Xena’s human dad got out of the car with her, we were all in shock! She was the cutest thing, and very cat-like. We all got to hold her, and it was so much fun photographing such a unique situation. Then we moved locations to the most stunning tree covered dirt road and continued our shoot there, where we met a rattlesnake friend (which in typical me style, we discovered it’s existence by me almost stepping on it!) but luckily we were able to shoo it away with a huge palm leaf, that we ended up using for the shoot as well haha. All in all, it was an exciting and beautiful first morning! We then went back to our house and had lunch as we learned and chatted, then it was off to the next shoot! Stay tuned for that blog next 🙂
