Are you ready for a lovely intimate The Dawson Chicago wedding!? I know I was when Lauren & Dan first contacted me 😉 I had been to The Dawson for dinner before (their mac & cheese is insaneeeeee) so I was excited to hear that they did weddings as well! I was also really excited when Lauren told me that it would be such an intimate wedding- I truly love small weddings. Having less guests can really keep the focus on the love you and your partner share!
Cut to a few months later, and we met up in the West Loop in Chicago for some summer engagement photos! We had a great time wandering around this always cute area and getting some city vibe shots. Lauren & Dan live in Pittsburgh so they wanted something that was very Chicago, but not the normal skyline photos, and I think the West Loop captures that vibe so well.
Next, cut to a waaaaay colder day in January, where I met them for their big day! I absolutely loved playing with all the items she brought for detail shots- the more the merrier for flat lay photos 🙂 Then we did the usual adorable getting ready shots (how much do you love the bridesmaids confetti shot? So fun!), and then popped outside for some very freezing couple & wedding party shots at my favorite place, The Wrigley Building. We kept that pretty short (it was seriously like 10 degrees outside- yay Chicago haha) and then ended up at The Dawson for a few more moody couple shots, and then their ceremony! The ceremony space at The Dawson is stunning. I love the intimate, warm vibe- perfect for a small winter wedding. After the I-do’s, it was party time! They had a chill cocktail hour, and sat down to a delicious dinner. We got super lucky, because mid-way through dinner, it started snowing! We ran outside to catch it, and these are definitely my favorite images of the night. Being spontaneous on your wedding day for photos is such an important thing, because it also creates the best memories and a more unique experience 🙂 So enjoy this The Dawson Chicago wedding (and maybe go get some of their mac & cheese after 😉 I know I want some now)!
