I'm so glad you're here. I'm Danielle, a fine art wedding & lifestyle photographer with a focus on capturing magical moments.
As a fine art wedding photographer, every wedding has its own spark, but Emily and Gabe’s Armour House wedding in Lake Forest felt especially meaningful. From their warm, playful connection to the thoughtful touches woven throughout their entire day, this wedding was something truly special.
If you’ve been following along on their journey, you’ll remember our delightful engagement session at Chicago’s Museum of Science & Industry. I adored how that modern yet timeless setting hinted at what was to come on their wedding day, giving their full photography collection a beautiful, cohesive feel. It’s always such a joy to capture love stories in a way that feels effortlessly connected, like turning the pages of a beautifully designed book.
And speaking of beautiful design, Emily and Gabe’s style was captivating from the very first moment. Emily chose a sophisticated bridal gown with modern touches, complete with a detachable tulle overskirt. Brides, if you’re considering a removable train or overskirt, trust me—it’s equal parts practical and incredibly chic. Emily transitioned seamlessly from a ceremony elegance to a party-ready vibe, and it was stunning to photograph.
Both Emily and Gabe got ready at the Armour House itself, but they decided to skip a first look and wait to see each other until Emily walked down the aisle. When their eyes finally met across that sacred space at The Church of St. Mary, the emotion was palpable. I could feel the joy and excitement ripple through every guest in attendance. This is one of those decisions that always sparks conversation—first look or no first look? There’s no wrong answer, of course, but there’s something profoundly beautiful about that traditional moment. When Gabe’s eyes lit up, and Emily smiled through happy tears, it was everything.
Throughout the day, I loved how Emily and Gabe infused their personalities into each moment. Emily kicked the morning off by popping champagne with her bridesmaids—carefree and joy-filled, a reminder to savor and celebrate the little rituals on your big day. Gabe and his groomsmen were just as relaxed and fun-loving, enjoying every minute as the anticipation built. Engaged couples, take note: letting yourselves fully enjoy your day is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourselves (and your photographs!).
After the heartfelt church ceremony, we returned to the Armour House for their reception, nestled perfectly within the venue’s refined gardens and elegant architecture. The Armour House truly set the scene for classic, timeless portraits and intimate, candid moments alike. I photographed much of their day on film, a medium that added warmth and nostalgic depth to each frame. Film has a way of slowing moments down, capturing them not only as they looked but as they felt—a perfect match for Emily and Gabe’s thoughtful, intentional style.
And speaking of style—Emily and Gabe both surprised each other (and their guests!) with festive wardrobe changes. Gabe donned a sleek white dinner jacket at the start of their reception, adding a sophisticated playfulness to their evening. Later, Emily changed into a chic, contemporary party dress, revealing it to Gabe in a sweet “second look” moment. Gabe’s reaction was priceless in a surreal moment of surprise and adoration. It was the perfect opportunity (and ensemble!) to pull out some bold, editorial-style direct flash portraits, capturing the fun-loving essence of their personalities in a fresh and artistic way.
Emily and Gabe brought energy, intention, and genuine joy to their day—qualities that every photographer aspires to capture. Each frame became its own little love letter, telling the story of their relationship, their community, and their celebration. It was a privilege to partner with two people who know how to honor tradition while boldly embracing their distinct styles.
Thank you, Emily and Gabe, for trusting me with your memories. Your Armour House wedding was a true joy to capture, and I’m so excited for the adventures that await you both.
For engaged couples currently planning their own weddings, let Emily and Gabe’s day inspire you. How can you bring thoughtful details into your celebration? What traditions resonate most deeply with you, and where can you add your own twist? Think about how your photographs can tell a cohesive, authentic story of your journey together.
Ultimately, your wedding photography experience is about far more than pretty pictures—it’s about capturing the authentic heart of your relationship. When you’re able to fully be yourselves, whether that means popping champagne in the morning or changing outfits mid-party, that’s when your moments come alive.
