The moment I saw this spot in Central Park, I knew I had to shoot there! So on my last visit to New York in 2019, I set up this wedding inspiration shoot with these two lovely people! We got a stunning dress from the lovely ladies at Designer Loft, and I’m still obsessed with it. One of my favorite aspects of the details of the dress is the presence of cranes- I was lucky enough to meet the designer (the super talented Yumi Katsura) when I picked out the gown to use for the session, and she explained that in Japan, cranes are mystical creatures and are believed to live for a thousand years. As a result, in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean culture, the crane represents good fortune and longevity. A perfect creature for a wedding dress! Plus, I love birds, so it was a match made in heaven 😉 It was a freezing day in late December, so we only shot for about an hour, but sometimes that’s all you need! They were great sports, and even climbed a snowy and leaf covered hill on our way out of the park for some beautiful last shots. I miss New York and can’t wait until I can hopefully photograph a full wedding there someday 🙂
