Stephanie & Eric: Rustic Garden Chicago Wedding

Stephanie & Eric’s wedding day fell on one of the hottest, most humid and rainy days of the summer yet- but it was still perfection. Stephanie & I first met when we shot a wedding together a few years ago, and when she got engaged, I was over the moon when she asked me to be their photographer! Always quite an honor to shoot a fellow wedding photographer’s wedding 😉

Stephanie & Eric first met in a hot tub! They were living in the same building, and just happened to be in the mood for a soak at the same time one night, and became friends from there. Due to some medical issues, Eric had an extended stay at a hospital shortly after that, and even though they barely knew each other, Stephanie walked a mile to the hospital every day to visit him. One night he got up from his bed, asked her to dance right there in his room, and they both say that’s when they knew it was a forever kind of love 🙂 They got engaged a few years later when Eric took Stephanie to a “work party” at the John Hancock Tower. He proposed outside and they went up to The Signature Room for a fabulous dinner to celebrate.

Their wedding took place at the stunning Gardens of Woodstock, and they pretty much made everything by hand! They put so much work into making their day special, and it seriously payed off. We started with some getting ready shots, moved to, no joke, one of the most beautiful & emotional first looks I’ve ever seen, then got some portraits of their fun wedding party… And then it started to pour. And the ceremony was supposed to be outside. Luckily, they were both cool as cucumbers and decided not to stress about it! So we stated to plan for an indoor ceremony, then about a half hour before the start time, the rain cleared the sun peeked through the clouds, and they got their perfect outdoor ceremony. After the ceremony (which was also very emotional- not a dry eye was in the house after their personal vows) we did family portraits, and got some magical shots of the newly-weds. Then it was time to party! Their cake designer (the super talented Julie Michelle Cakes) surprised them with their dream cake, which was a super fun moment to witness when they saw it for the first time when they walked into the reception tent. The rest of the night was full of dancing, loving toasts, and so, so, so much joy 🙂 These two are seriously meant to be, and it was just the best to get to witness the start of their future together as husband & wife. Congrats you two! 🙂
