Libby & Matt: Vibrant Chicago Wedding

From the first moment I met Libby & Matt, I knew their day would be extraordinary. We met on a rainy day in December at a coffee shop in Lincoln Park, and talked about everything- from Matt’s dreamy Amsterdam proposal (more on that later!), to their vision for the day. We decided on the spot we were a good fit for each other. We had almost a year from then before the big day, and I couldn’t have been more excited when it finally arrived!

First though, a little backstory- Libby and Matt first met when Libby needed another roommate! Her and her friend needed a third person to live with, so they found Matt on Craigslist, and picked him to move in. They quickly started dating when they discovered they both had a passion for the Fast & Furious movies, and the rest in history. Years later, Matt surprised Libby with a last minute trip, and wouldn’t tell her where they were going. Once they got to the airport he announced they were going to Amsterdam to look at the tulips. Hours later they arrived, and he proposed to her there in the gardens amongst the brightly colored tulips 🙂 If that isn’t the most romantic thing ever, I don’t know what is!

On a bright and sunny September afternoon, I met up with Libby & her bridal party at the new home her and Matt had just purchased. They were in the process of renovating it, which gave it an even cooler vibe- they even left up part of a wall they were tearing down so I could use it for pictures of the dress! Little details like that really make a huge difference. We took some getting ready shots, then made our way over to the Humboldt Park Formal Garden for their adorable first look, and wedding party and couple photos. The entire group was just so much fun! We had the best time wandering around the beautiful garden, snapping a million pics, and even taking a couple tequila shots 😉

Then we headed over to Holy Innocents Church for their heartfelt ceremony, and finally to Ignite Glass Studios for their fun (and perfectly decorated!) reception. Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers, so I just couldn’t stop taking photos of all their stunning centerpieces. Another great thing about their reception? They set up bags and a beer pong table in the courtyard! Such a cool idea for entertaining everyone. Finally, as we were at a glass studio, they also had some glass blowing demonstrations, including making the happy couple a custom vase. For dinner, we enjoyed some mouth watering BBQ, and then they danced the night away. Oh, and instead of cake, they had the most delicious doughnuts- I’m still dreaming about them to this day, that’s how good they were! One of my favorite moments of the night was when they fed each other one, and couldn’t stop laughing the whole time they did it 🙂

Sounds pretty perfect, right?? Overall, I was so honored to be a part of such an incredible day, and to get to work with such a perfect couple like Libby & Matt. Enjoy!
