Leah & Cody: Stunning Rustic Vineyard Wedding

How do I even begin to talk about this incredible wedding!? Maybe by starting with the fact that each detail was perfect- from Leah’s gorgeous fall colored bouquet, to Cody’s personalized whisky tumblers, to the location itself… It was just a dream. More on all this later. Time for a little back story!

Leah and I first met back in 6th grade at Charlotte Wood Middle School in Danville, CA. We immediately bonded over our love for crafts, drawing, and watching Trading Spaces. We went from spending hours painting with water colors, watching HGTV (and eventually Moulin Rogue or Pirates of the Caribbean on repeat), to high school dances, and remained friends for all these years.

After undergrad, Leah traded California for Florida to attend PA school. Here is where she met Cody, a Florida native who happened to be attending the same school. After a few joint study groups, they were inseparable. A few years later, and this happened:

“It was around Thanksgiving in Florida when Cody’s family was down visiting. His grandparents rented a condo on the beach for the week, so we decided to stay the night at their place. Since we were so close to the beach, Cody wanted to watch the sunrise at the beach. We woke up early and headed to the beach. It started sprinkling, and Cody still wanted to stay on the beach to watch the sunrise. Of course, at that time I should have realized something was up. We walked over to the pier by the lighthouse when he set up his phone so he could take a picture of the two of us. When he was about to take the picture, he got down on one knee and popped the question.”

And the rest is history 🙂

When I found out they were engaged, I knew it would be so amazing to be a part of one of my oldest friends biggest days. Being in Chicago this took some logistical work, but it ended up being my first destination wedding, and now I definitely have the bug! A few months later, we flew out to San Francisco, and on September 2nd, made the drive up to the beautiful Martinelli Event Center. From the vineyards on one side, to the golden hills of California on the other, this was just a dream spot.

We spent the afternoon taking all the candid getting ready and detail photos, then came the ceremony near sunset, which left for absolute perfect timing for the wedding party and couple photos afterwards. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get over just how amazing golden hour is in California! It was pretty hard to let them go once it came time to start the reception, but that’s when things got even more fun. We spent the night eating delicious food, hearing heartfelt speeches, and dancing up a storm. There was just so much love surrounding them, it was an incredible thing to witness. When it came time to wrap things up, they made their grand exit into a vintage T-Bird that Leah’s dad fixed up! While running to the car, all the guests lined up and tossed pine needles over them, which smelled amazing. Then they drove off into the night… Only to come right back around and say proper goodbyes to everyone 😉

But! That’s enough talking from me. Time to see this wonderful wedding for yourself!
