Jing & Arthur: Traditional & Whimsical Chicago Wedding

I first met Jing at an Argo Tea in the middle of a snowstorm. We sat and chatted all about the wedding day plans, photography, and just our lives in general- we hit it off right away πŸ™‚ A month later, we met up again (this time with Arthur too) at the Lincoln Park zoo for some adorable engagement shots. I knew as soon as she pulled out gold balloons and glitter,Β that their wedding would be amazing. I was definitely not wrong! The day itself was beautiful from start to finish, and I couldn’t be happier I was there to capture it.

Jing & Arthur met for their first date on Black Friday. They joke they got a pretty good deal that day πŸ˜‰ Years later, Arthur proposed to Jing on a beach at midnight during a trip to Hawaii, and the rest is history!

Their modern day, with some traditional twists, was simply stunning. We began in a downtown hotel room for getting ready, and traditional Chinese games (including one where the bridesmaids made Arthur & his guys do the craziest things in order to be able to see Jing!) and a tea ceremony. Then we took off for a Chicago tour! We went to all the hot spots (Olive Park for their first look, The Bean, the West Loop for it’s fun graffiti), and finally landed at the lovely Prairie Productions for the ceremony and reception. Jing is a creative genius, so all the decor was on point. Everything was handmade and completely unique, from the beautiful programs and cake topper, to the 6 foot flowers they had behind them during the ceremony. Not stopping there, they also created a love story trailer to play before the reception, and choreographed not only their first dance as a couple, but dances with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. It was quite the show! After al the traditional speeches and bouquet toss, they spent the rest of the night dancing away with all their closest friends and family. Easily one of the most special weddings I’ve been to yet πŸ™‚
